The National Archaeological Museum of Pontecagnano is dedicated and named after the “Etruscan Frontiers”. Collects artifacts from the Villanova and Etruscan-Campania centers of Pontecagnano.
A real heritage of inestimable value, whose most substantial nucleus is represented by finds from over 9000 burials, excavated in the necropolis of the Pontecagnano area in the last fifty years.
The visit itinerary follows a chronological exhibition order. With sections dedicated to the illustration of the different eras, from the Eneolithic period to the Roman Age, it offers visitors in-depth information on the city and its urban development, on the necropolises, on the sanctuaries, on the handicraft productions.
In the exhibition itinerary, the section dedicated to the aristocracies of the Orientalizing period (end of the 8th – end of the 7th century BC) is relevant, to which some burials can be attributed which, due to the composition and quality of the funeral furnishings, have been defined as “princely”.
The one hosted by the archaeological museum of Pontecagnano Faiano is a very interesting heritage of great value. The entrance ticket, of only two euros with the possibility of reduction, is one more reason to visit it.
